A mortal woman who would dare fall in love with a god... #Paranormal #Romance #ASMSG

In writing my latest novel, a paranormal scifi-romance, Upon This Rock, I delved into the vast treasure trove of myth, legend and various religions to find inspiration. The premise was relatively simple, a mortal woman, courted and seduced by a god in her nightly dreams, would do anything to meet her lover in person. She would journey to the ends of the Earth for her loving devotion...

Perhaps even the Vatican.

The idea of gods, angels and demons seducing mortal women is embedded in every mythology across human history. What does that say about women ... that they are such ripe targets for seduction and rape? What does that say about the predatory natures of these gods?

Hindu gods seduced and impregnated mortals, as did Egyptian, Assyrian, Babylonian, Greek and Roman gods. Zues's many lovers (mortal and otherwise) are so well known, the moons of Jupiter are named after them.

And what would be the result of such a union?

Demigods.

Demigods are some of the most famous and infamous characters of lore.

In Judeo-Christian myth, the Old Testament (Torah) has a peculiar line about The Nephilim...

"The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, when the sons of God came unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them; the same were the mighty men of old, the men of renown."

Sounds a lot like a Demigod by Greco-Roman definitions.

Sadly, the Demigods had it rough. They were mostly human, imbued with special abilities from their divine parentage, but mired in the mess of humanity and forever struggling against the manipulations of gods who used them to further their selfish agendas.

Thousands of years have passed since the days of Nephilim and Demigods, the days when gods, angels and demons walked among us, seducing women, and birthing supernaturally gifted half-breeds.

Herein lies the thread of my novel, UPON THIS ROCK.

What if the Gods sought to reenter our world, to once more seduce women and regain political and religious favor among the nations of men? Ashley Rowan is lured in by the loving, patient whispers of Mithra. He promises they can be together, if only she accepts his gifts of power and journeys to the gate, to open the way to his world.

Mithra has labored for centuries to reach this moment, the chance for gods to once more walk among the men and women of Earth.

Its Fantasy. Scifi. Mythical and legendary, encompassing thousands of years of human history, and the dark manipulations of supernatural creatures from other worlds across the galaxy. They await us at the door, ready to barge through the gateway hidden beneath the Vatican ... UPON THIS ROCK.

Cyborgs are so much more than machines: ADAM #Scfi #Romance by @EveLanglais #ASMSG

Cyborgs are so much more than machines…

The deluge of water stopped and left her dripping. She wasn’t quite done.
“Please remove all your garments and place them in the disposal chute.”
Strip to the skin? Surely he wouldn’t make her? Her gaze met the soldier’s, but his smooth expression didn’t reveal anything.
“Must I?” she queried. “I didn’t get any on the coat, so I doubt my clothes are a risk.”
“Orders, ma’am.”
The military and their damned orders.
Lips drawn in a tight line, she stripped from her soaked garments and dropped them into the chute that led to a sealed oven, which used extreme heat to disintegrate contaminated items. Standing in her bra and panties, she dared him to say something.
He did. The bastard. “All of your clothes, ma’am.”
“Can you turn around?”
“Sorry, ma’am. My orders are to watch you for signs of infection.”
Watch? More like leer, the pervert. And to think she’d entertained lusty thoughts about him. Not anymore. Inwardly grumbling, she shed her undergarments, and while she didn’t meet his gaze, she was aware of it and couldn’t help but blush.

Panties and bra tossed in the trash, she hugged herself and glared through a wet hank of hair at her guard. His face might not show emotion, but she couldn’t help but note his gaze seemed more intent than usual. Despite her annoyance at his insistence on following the rules, she couldn’t help the awareness flushing her skin. She also couldn’t help an inappropriate mental question.
Does he like what he sees?

Let The Right One In scheduled for an A&E Series! #Vampire #Badassary #ASMSG

let-me-in-owen-abby

LTROI series for A&E

REBLOGGED FROM VAMPIRES.COM:

200px-LettherightoneinswedishbookcoverFirst there was a best-selling novel, which became a wildly popular film in its native Sweden.  Then an English-language adaptation, a Swedish-language play, following by anEnglish-language play performing first in Edinburgh then London then New York.  Now Let The Right One In is slated to join the line-up of A&E.  Teen Wolf  writers Jeff Davis and Brandon Boyce are currently writing a script. The series will be produced by A+E Studios with Tomorrow Studios.
Plenty of S P O I L E R S follow, so be warned.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series would again relocate the story to the United States, this time in Vermont.  Like the previous versions, a lonely and bullied boy befriends a mysterious girl who moves into town with her equally-mysterious guardian.  Strange murders follow which attract the attention of a Federal Marshal with some kind of secrets of his own.  This synopsis leaves a large number of questions un-answered.  For example:
let-the-right-one-in1What is the time period of the proposed series?  Both films retained the 1980s setting, using events of that decade as a kind of commentary of the plot.  Certainly doing a series in the present would be easier and cheaper.  More it would open up a possible plot change.  The new series might not be done so much a remake but a quasi-sequel.  In other words, the Oscar character from the original might be the Guardian of the new show.  Maybe.
Let_the_Right_One_In155.jpgHow old are this boy and girl?  Matt Reeves, writer/director of Let Me In (the American film, made under the auspices of Hammer Studios) noted that when first approached about making an English version language, people said to him “Of course we have to make the boy and the vampire teenagers.”  He refused.  That doesn’t mean someone else might not love that idea.
Will there be any more vampires?  The book mentions at least five other vampires, including the nobleman who created Eli (Abby in the American film), another vampire Eli met years later who noted most undead commit suicide.  During the course of the story, Eli accidentally turned two of her victims into vampires she had to destroy–and when her Guardian offered her his blood after burning his face off with acid to protect her, the Guardian also rose and tried to rape her.  If Davis and Boyce want to turn the novel into an ongoing series, the real possibility exists of using the fact vampirism is so hideously easy to spread.
Many details are frankly left in the air, with barely a hint.  The Federal Marshal for example certainly seems brand spanking new, and the secrets could easily be more complex than the obvious thought that he (or she) Mulder-like now “believes.”  Neither of the leads  characters’ names have been released, nor much idea of the circumstances around each.  In the Swedish film, Oscar’s parents are separated because the father drinks.  In the American, Owen’s mother is the drunk and deeply religious to boot (this remains a major difference between the two settings–the Swedish town doesn’t even have a church, and one can barely imagine an American town without one).  American Abby’s Guardian was once pretty clearly a version of Owen, someone who grew up and apart from his beloved friend.  Swedish Eli’s Guardian is a pedophile in love, eager to prove his loyalty and the right to touch this child who is not a child.
No word yet on when such a series might be expected to air.  Jeff Davis, although best known for Teen Wolf, wrote the original script which became Criminal Minds.  Brandon Boyce penned the biopic Milk as well as Apt Pupil, based on a story by Stephen King.  Marty Adelstein will serve as Executive Producer, having been responsible for Tru Calling(with Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Eliza Dushku) and Point Pleasant.  Becky Clements (Last Man Standing) and Hammer Studios President Simon Oakes will also Executive Produce.
David MacDowell Blue blogs at Night Tinted Glasses.  He graduated from the National Shakespeare Conservatory and is the author of The Annotated Carmilla. and Your Vampire Story (And How to Write It) as well as a theatrical adaptation of Carmilla.

Meet the wicked, strange, obnoxious, deadly characters of NIGHTLIFE MOSCOW #Paranormal #ASMSG

Reblogged courtesy of the SMUTSONIAN:

Meet the wicked, strange, obnoxious and dead sexy characters of The Nightlife Moscow.

Vampires Aaron and Michelle have landed in Moscow, on the prowl. In the company of a misfit pack of mercenary werewolves and Urvashi, a fallen angel, the vampires are forced into the violent, decadent underworld of Russian mafia, drugs and blood slaves.
The first and last character you meet in the Nightlife Series is Aaron Pilan. Aaron has been with us from the beginning, and it could be said that this series is really his story.

Obnoxious bastard vampire, Aaron happens to be a decent guy… sometimes.
Though young and inexperienced, Aaron has survived numerous trials by fire, loved and lost, been widowed, shot and hunted by police in four nations. The Nightlife Series chronicles his dark, violent, erotic misadventures from New York to VegasParisLondon, and now Moscow.
Never fear ladies, Aaron’s story is far from over. In fact, with shocking developments from Moscow, this may be the beginning of something new and delightfully macabre.

Next in the lineup is Michelle de Mornac. Michelle is a French femme fatale whose Parisian exploits against the German soldiers in WWII were often mistaken for French revolutionary assassinations. In her early Paris years, Michelle enjoyed dishing out messy, painful eviscerations – she hated German soldiers with a passion. These days she is a much calmer creature who prefers to work out her desires through sex, rather than violence. Once in a great while she cuts loose and returns to the old habits of shredding the entrails of her victims. When she hits that mood, its best to get out of town, or out of the country.
Michelle and Aaron’s lives have been inextricably intertwined since the beginning, in New York. Through the gift of her blood, she brought him into the fold. In retrospect, it wasn’t the wisest thing to do. She never counted on falling in love with Aaron, or the complicated mess he would make of their lives. Michelle is the other half of the Nightlife Series. Where Aaron goes, Michelle follows, even to Moscow in the dead of winter to hunt a vampire bajillionaire.

The third member of Aaron’s family joined them in Paris, when Aaron unwittingly bound himself to an Apsara – a fallen angel named Urvashi. This immortal shapeshifter Aaron calls master prefers to wear a skinsuit of Kim Kardashian.
Urvashi the great and powerful has her telekinetic fingers draped all over the supernatural beasties of Europe. She’s the behind the scenes puppet master, a self-appointed supernatural judge, jury, and executioner. A seducer and manipulator of men the world over, it pays to stay on Urvashi’s good side. The fools who fail to learn this lesson find their heads suddenly detached from their bodies.

The late-comer to Aaron’s highly dysfunctional family is Katya, a Russian werewolf ex-patriot living in Soho London. Katya loves to hate vampires – passionately. Katya is Aaron’s biggest mistake and his primary source of grief – a werewolf bloodslave.
She needs him, always. Every minute of every hour, she needs Aaron’s teeth in her neck. Her addiction to his bite has made both their lives near impossible. Aaron has his hands full keeping Michelle from treating Katya as the meaty center of a blood-sex sandwich.
Blank Banner
Katya’s sidekick and fellow pack member is Ivan. Hailing from Russia, with a history that reaches all the way back to Rasputin himself, Ivan is an old school werewolf. He runs the mercenary operations of the wolf pack and spends his leisure time swimming in vodka and giving Katya shitty advice on her love life.

We now introduce the Supreme Bastard himself, the man who unseated the Czar, toppled the royal family, and sent Mother Russia barreling into a blood-drenched Bolshevik Revolution: Dmitri the vampire bajillionaire.
Known for his deep, lasting relationships with Russian mafia, and his skill at making a buck at everyone’s expense, Dmitri is the fucker you love to hate. Draped in illicit money and wielding tremendous power through Russian corruption, Dmitri runs his own army of ex-military grunts. His filthy empire of payoffs and dirty deals spans across all Eastern Europe, and so does his reach as he sends his soldiers hunting for the wolf pack. He killed off two pack members in a recent ambush, and now he’s dying to finish the job.
Blank Banner
Dmitri is joined by the victims he enslaved, four women who wished to God they had never seen his face or heard his name: Kristina, Svetlana, Natalya, and Oksana a.k.a. The Bloodslaves.

Kristina (far left brunette), mother, undercover spy, and bloodslave to Dmitri, the poor woman just can’t get a break. Hers is a dark and painful path – her only salvation is her daughter Lana.
Svetlana (blonde), once a highly successful attorney at a Moscow firm, she was kidnapped and raped repeatedly until she agreed to serve Dmitri’s needs and represent his sleazy corporate manipulations. She alone holds the key to running Dmitri’s empire and unraveling his dirty secrets.
Natalya (topless brunette) works as a painted stripper, shaking her tiger-striped ass all over Moscow. An addict, alcoholic, whore, Natalya is a hot, wet mess looking for a cock to land on. Meeting Dmitri might have been the best thing that ever happened to her, or the worst.
Oksana (topless brunette #2) was the girl next door who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when Dmitri noticed her. A submissive, quiet woman, Oksana survives in Dmitri’s household by keeping her mouth shut and doing what she’s told. She is the perfect bloodslave.
Blank Banner
The last member of Dmitri’s family is the girl Aaron Pilan never saw coming, but she manages to turn his life upside down and inside out:  Lana.
At only six years old, Lana’s fate depends upon Aaron’s promise to ‘do the right thing.’
Unfortunately, Aaron isn’t known for doing the right thing.
Grab this latest installment of The Nightlife Series and prepare to be immersed in a dark, wicked, sensual world of bloodslaves, sex, Russian technogrind, vampires, werewolves, and all the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches you can steal from Dmitri’s kitchen.
